natural kordofan arabic gum in powder (the finest quality), extracted from an acacia in sudan, is used in the manufacture of watercolors, gouache, dry pastel and paper glue. It is also used in the composition of limewash as a binder and fixer. the dosage will be 10% maximum compared to the weight of lime (with lime paste, it will first have to be mixed with hot water and wait for it to swell before incorporating it).

for watercolor: mix 1 volume of gum arabic in 3 volumes of very hot water, let swell and dilute, your binder is ready. mix the pigments with water to obtain a firm paste, then add prepared gum arabic until the desired consistency and the colors are ready.

however, be careful: if not enough binder in the mixture there is a risk of cracking, if applied too thick there is a risk of mold.

for conservation, the essential oil of clove is effective.
